Hi, I'm Justin!

I'm a third-year software engineering student and one of the current Events Directors.
I'm thrilled to announce my candidacy for Treasurer in 2024!

More about me

You may have spotted me on campus grilling sausages with Jeb (our CSE BBQ grill 🌭) or running around making announcements at events like camp 🏕️. When I'm not slaving away on assignments or taking a breather from CSESoc, you'll find me enjoying runs 🏃, playing tennis 🎾, going on late-night Maccas runs 🍟, and sleeping in until noon 🛌. I'm also passionate about discovering good food spots 🍲 around Sydney and spotting rare supercars 🏎️ :D

First Year Camp

I led a camp for incoming first-year students, focusing on building friendships and guiding them through their university journey, with the support of our dedicated Camp Leaders.

Pubcrawl

I facilitated a successful pubcrawl by coordinating with venues, securing exclusive deals, and providing on-site guidance to participants as they moved from one bar to the next.

Weekly BBQs

Conducted numerous weekly BBQs with the help of subcom, enhancing the experience by providing students with special events such as LinkedIn photoshoots and Cultural BBQs.

All Years Camp

I hosted a second camp catering to students of all ages, providing a serene group retreat for friends seeking relaxation, as well as an introductory experience for first-time campees.

Ball

Launched the inaugural CSE ball with a three-course meal, unlimited drinks, a professional photographer, and a live DJ, offering post-exam relief for students.

Interfac Tournament

I played a part in organising the upcoming interfaculty sports day event, where each faculty will assemble teams to compete in both basketball and oztag.

My Vision

As a former subcommittee member turned Director at CSESoc, I've had a blast witnessing people enjoy themselves at our events and getting the chance to meet and make new friends 😎! Now, I'm eager to continue the fun as the Treasurer for the upcoming year, spreading the good vibes 💫 everywhere I go. Furthermore, I'm excited to work with my fellow executive members to provide support and mentorship to our future directors as they embark on their journey 🤩. I've also had the pleasure of working closely with Melanie, our current Treasurer 💸, on event planning and securing budget approvals, which has given me valuable expertise in budgeting and cost estimation.

Below, I've outlined my detailed visions and goals.

I'd like to achieve the following goals:

  • Keeping and maintaining all of the society's financial records.
  • Requesting each portfolio to provide a projected budget based on last year's figures.
  • Ensuring that costs and income are matched as closely as possible without incurring debt.
  • Keeping the society informed of its financial position.

I'd like to uphold the following principles:

  • Complete transparency of society spendings.
  • Swift invoice and payment processing.
  • Ensure that every reimbursement is accompanied by its corresponding receipt, a clear explanation of the reason, and confirmation that the invoice aligns with the reimbursement.
  • Most importantly, ensuring that everyone has fun!

I'd like to improve by:

  • Providing more FAS tickets to increase opportunities to students who are in need.
  • Subsidising society bonding events.
  • Offering more frequent reimbursements.
  • Actively participating in portfolio meetings to provide direct advice on budgeting when needed.
